Introduction Staphylococcal endocarditis has a very high mortality rate3' 5 and difficulties in its therapy have not been lessened by the emergence of strains of the organism resistant to the commonly used antibiotics. Recently, encouraging reports of the use of vancomycin in resistant staphylococcal infections have appeared." 2, 4 Since the number of patients treated is small, the following case report is thought to be of interest.
